Applied Behavior Analysis Theory

Through identifying environmental variables, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) seeks to pinpoint the root cause of behavior in an effort to improve it. At Willowcrest we use the knowledge of how behaviors occur in an environment to determine strategies to help children decrease challenging behavior (hitting, kicking, hand biting, etc.) and increase functional behaviors (communication, independence, social skills, etc).

We work together with parents, teachers, and the clinical team to determine which goals are appropriate for each child and data is collected to track progress and to help drive new goals or change treatment plans.
